Instructions for Your - IAQFP Membership Announcement 

  1. Edit the Copy.  We suggest you do not make the text for "Local Advisor Awarded Designation" or other titles of other releases much longer - or it may not be used.  You should remove the last sentence if you do not offer a free initial consultation.  The copy may be found on the website upon Login QFP-Awarded.doc.
  1. Add Local Address.  Place your firm name, address, website and phone number below that of the IAQFP.  Below that you might type: "____________ is available as an information resource, or for an interview, on topics of personal finances."
  1. Prepare a Media List.  This should include daily newspapers (in care of the business editor), weekly newspapers, local business journals, radio stations, TV and cable stations.  You should also add area Chambers of Commerce and other business groups.
  1. Consider Including a Photo.  Most locations can use either a color or monochrome photo.  Do not expect the photo to be returned.  Many will not use the photo - but some might.  Why send a photo to a radio station?  They might invite you in for an interview.
  1. Additional Recipients.  You can also send the Press Release without photo, to all your clients.  You could simply add your photo on the version sent to clients by inserting it electronically at the top or bottom.  Also send your press releases to any professionals that you have had contact with, such as attorneys, accountants, trust officers, realtors and commercial bankers.
  1. Future Contact.  Be sure to save your media list for a subsequent mailing.  For example, for future brochures and handouts that are under development by IAQFP, to which you could affix a personalizing label on the back page at the bottom.
  1. Additional Press Release.  This next release "Financial Planning Advice is Critical" can be edited with reference to a local event of an economic nature or coordinated with some program.  Send this one in about 60-90 days to refresh their memory of you.  One of the important aspects of media relations is repetition.  We suggest you plan to send some form of press release to the media & centers of influence quarterly.  The copy of this may be found on our website, in the Members Only section, at: www.IAQFP.org
  1. Schedule Future Press Releases.  Mark your Contact Manager to send a topical press release to your media list every 90 days!
