About the QFP Verification Registry of Qualified Financial Planners
The QFP Verification Registry is a regulated Ethics & Standards based verification and locating listing of Qualified Financial Planners, provided free of charge to the general public by IAQFP.
QFP listed in this Registry are of two types; namely non-Member and Member QFP. Member QFP who are listed in this QFP Verification Registry have accepted IAQFP higher standards as outlined in the following added criteria*.
- the QFP has earned one or more of the 5 designations that are the only ones specific to the field & profession of Financial Planning (see below), and they have been granted the designation which is the single universal identifier of the Financial Planning profession; namely, QFP - Qualified Financial Planner.
- the QFP has agreed to at all time abide by the IAQFP - Code of Ethics & Professional Conduct.
- the QFP has agreed to complete 30 hours of continuing professional education that spans all of the areas of the profession either bi-annually, or 15 hours annually.
- the QFP agrees to regulatory oversight of the IAQFP Ethics Committee & Board of Directors, and agrees to be bound by the IAQFP Disciplinary & Complaint Procedures Process.
- *Member QFP have additionally agreed to follow all of the added requirements and standards of IAQFP Membership, that further distinguishes them.
List of the Qualifying Designations of the Financial Planning Profession
While we recognize the professionalism of the many financial services designations representing the broader and more generalized field of finance, IAQFP research has proven that only the following represent those who are schooled in the discipline & methodology of Financial Planning.
- ChFC® - Chartered Financial Consultant:
A Financial Planning designation issued by the American College at: www.theamericancollege.edu
- PFS - Personal Financial Specialist:
A Financial Planning designation issued by the American Institute of CPAs at: www.CPAPFS.org
- MSFS - Master of Science in Financial Services with a Financial Planning concentration:
A Financial Planning degree issued by the American College at: www.theamericancollege.edu
- MS - Master of Science with a Financial Planning concentration:
A Financial Planning degree issued by the College for Financial Planning at: www.http://www.cffp.edu/index.aspx
- CFP® - CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™:
A Financial Planning designation issued by the CFP Board at: www.CFP.net

- QFP - Qualified Financial Planner:

QFP is granted to those having earned one or more of the above listed designations, all of which require substantially equivalent IAQFP approved education, exam, ethics and experience.
QFP is the unifying and universal identifier of the Financial Planning profession, and of Qualified Financial Planners.
QFP who are also IAQFP Members* are held to even higher standards then non-Member QFP, and other Financial Planners.
