A primary purpose of IAQFP is to bring about an end to the confusion faced by the public over who is, and who is not a Financial Planner from an "alphabet soup of literally hundreds of professional designations," while taking into consideration uniform standards of education, examination, ethics, and experience. Qualitative & quantitative research by IAQFP has determined that, as of this writing, only five (5) designations can justify the claim of being Financial Planning specific designations, with the QFP designation serving as the only universal identifier of them all. The QFP Designation is issued and granted to those having earned one or more of the above listed designations, all of which require substantially equivalent IAQFP approved education, exam, ethics and experience. QFP is the single, universal identifier, of Qualified Financial Planners and the profession of Financial Planning. IAQFP strongly cautions the public to verify anyone claiming to be a Financial Planner by searching, free of charge, its QFP Verification Registry of Qualified Financial Planners located at: www.iaqfp.org/qfp_registry.html. Only QFP in good standing are listed in the QFP Verification Registry. QFP who are also IAQFP Members* are held to even higher standards then non-Member QFP, and other Financial Planners.
